What Is Cost Per Action Advertising?

by Christine Laubenstein

There are several ways to conduct online advertising campaigns. You can pay search engines or other Internet publishers hosting your ads each time one of your ads is clicked, every 1,000 times the ad is seen, or every time the ad prompts a more sales-related action.

How to Develop an Effective Affiliate Marketing Strategy

by Carissa Payne

Marketing business salesA few months ago we published a post that focused on the ins and outs of how affiliate marketing works.

A compelling point made in the post was that, if managed properly, affiliate marketing can bring in up to 5-15 percent of online revenue and have an ROI among the highest of any online channel.

There’s no question that marketing through the affiliate channel can be a boon for sales, brand awareness, average order value, site visits, and conversions. However, if not developed and managed well, companies can be faced with off-brand messaging, fraud, and flat new customer growth, among other issues. Continue reading

by Seema Nayak

Pre-launch Pitfalls

1. Not Investing in Market Research

Researching the key players in the category your app operates in can give you some great insights into what your target audience values in an app. How are other apps named? Are they memorable? Which categories are they targeting? Which keywords are they ranking high for? An analysis could prove to be very useful in getting your app in front of the right audience. To get started, create an excel sheet similar to the one shown below and list the key features in order to find out where your app stands against the competition.

your app vs competitor

This will give you an idea of whether there are any key features your competitors support that you have missed. Continue reading

Craft Clear, Compelling and Creative Offers

by Brett Curry

offersAt the heart of good marketing is a good offer.

  • Fresh, hot pizza delivered in 30 minutes or less or it’s free.
  • Fifteen minutes could save you 15% or more on car insurance.
  • For when it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight.

The success of these taglines from Dominos, Geico, and FedEx was fueled largely by the attractiveness of the offer. Fast delivery with a guarantee when no one else was offering it. Overnight delivery that would absolutely, positively get there when no other delivery option offered the same certainty. Significant savings on insurance without a grueling sales pitch by an insurance agent. These offers worked because they struck a chord with their intended audience.   Continue reading

from Search Engine Land

good-seo-for-2016Every year, Google makes changes, and SEOs have to adapt, but 2015 was a fairly uneventful year in the SEO world. What really changed? Mobilegeddon, another Panda, local became a 3-pack, referral spam became a bigger issue, local became partially paid and Google+ was stripped down.

If you had to change your strategy in 2015, it’s because you learned something new, you were doing something you shouldn’t have or you weren’t doing something you should have been doing. SEO still is, and will always be, about getting the basics right, paying attention to the details and putting it all together. Continue reading
